The 500,000th manufactured vehicle Kia cee'd in the plant Kia Motors Slovakia has been already used by a team of doctors in the Transplantation center located in Martin as a rescue vehicle for more than four months. It is Kia cee’d_sw in white colour with a diesel 1.6-litre engine which the company donated to the Faculty Hospital in Martin in January 2010. So far it has been used to transport the teams of surgeons and organs for transplantation in the Slovak Republic. The rescue vehicle was equipped with special warning lights and sirens as well as a visible sign for the biological material transfer. It is on call 24 hours a day with three drivers who are continuously in service. Overall mileage has more than 19,300 km.
"Kia cee'd is used to transfer the operational teams and organs for transplantation. In addition, the car also serves on the transport of biological material in the diagnosis of a potential organ donor in Slovakia. This year six organ donors has been carried out so in the region of the northern Slovakia. Thanks to the car we are able to improve and increase the safety of our work aimed to save human," said MUDr. Juraj Miklusica, a doctor of the Faculty Hospital in Martin, with a six- year practice and coordination of almost 70 donations of organs for transplantation. "We feel responsible to the region where we work and live in and we try to improve the quality of life. The life of every one of us is the greatest value, and therefore I am very happy that this is also the way our company can contribute to save lives," said In-Kyu Bae, President & CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia. Four transplantation centers located in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Kosice and Martin operate in the Slovak Republic. The Transplantation Center in Martin, which has three transplant surgeons, is the youngest one and was established in June 2003. Statistically, it is one of the best centers in Slovakia, with an average of 21 organ removals realized per year. This center covers a region of northern Slovakia, where 11 transplant coordinators work at different hospitals in Ilava, Cadca, Povazska Bystrica, Zilina, Martin, Ruzomberok, Liptovsky Mikulas, Dolny Kubin and Trstena.
