Record-Breaking Half-Year Sales in Slovakia

Kia sales results in 2007 have been progressing quite favourably. In the first half of 2007, Kia consecutively achieved several record-breaking results in Slovakia. Succession of achievements culminated in June this year, when Kia recorded 452 registered cars during one month, which is so far the highest number in Kia’s history in Slovakia.

The market share achieved in June 2007 can also be considered a big success to Kia, when it approached the 6% barrier (5.91% precisely). In addition, Kia came near a magic barrier of 2,000 sold cars, when 1,954 cars were registered by the end of June 2007. This means that the June sales jumped up by 253% compared to the same period last year. Such an increase was not achieved by any other of the first 15 car brands in Slovakia regarding market share. Half-year record sales are also up by almost 150% when compared to the same period last year.

Kia cee’d was the main reason for such successful sales results. In the sales chart for the first six months, it came fourth right after Skoda Fabia, Skoda Octavia 2 and Suzuki Swift. Little-big Rio, whose sales reached 454 units, markedly contributed to positive results too. Picanto steadily comes out on the top of its segment with almost 20.4% share, which means 170 sold units in this relatively small segment. SUV Sportage and Sorento also enjoyed plenty of customers to keep up with the best models in their segments. Kia lays big hopes on its MPV models (Carens and Carnival) too, which have a big potential for higher sales rates on the Slovak market.

The Head of Kia cars distributor in Slovakia, Pavel Silha, enthused: „The numbers say it all. There is nothing left to comment on. On the Slovak market, Kia unstoppably aims high and I am convinced that we will present even more interesting sales figures at the end of this year.“
