As part of her visit to the Žilina region, the President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová, visited the Kia Motors Slovakia manufacturing plant on August 15, 2019. It was the first manufacturing facility she visited during her term in office.

During her visit, the President met with the company’s top management and toured the body shop and final assembly areas. Among other things, she was introduced to the production process and key features of the new XCeed model, whose mass production had begun just a few days prior to her visit.

In a brief media briefing at the conclusion of her visit to Kia Motors Slovakia, President Čaputová highly praised the professionalism and quality of the company’s employees:

“One of the biggest challenges in this region is infrastructure, which remains incomplete. We also discussed with representatives of Kia Motors Slovakia the fact that highways that have not been completed for years pose a problem from a business perspective as well. This is a challenge that needs to be addressed,” said Zuzana Čaputová.
She also commented on Brexit, adding:
“We know that the United Kingdom is one of the largest export markets for our automotive industry. And if Brexit takes place without an agreement, it will most likely have an impact on our automotive production as well.”

Kyong‑Jae Lee, President of Kia Motors Slovakia, highly appreciated the President’s visit:

“We are very pleased that the President visited our region and that our manufacturing plant was the first automotive facility she chose to visit in Slovakia.”
