Kia Motors Europe (KME) invited top COTY jury (Car of the Year) journalists from all Europe as well as main Kia distributors to special event in Rüsselsheim, Germany on August 30.
A selection of senior Kia personnel joined the event to present the company’s plans, ambitions and future vision of KME. President of Kia Motors Slovakia In-Kyu Bae, Vice-President Chang-Kyun Han and Dusan Dvorak, Head of Public Relations, joined the event to present the Kia project in Slovakia.
Participants visited Kia\'s Research and Development (R&D) Centre in Rüsselsheim, where they got an overview of engine range and could see different examples of live testing. Through several presentations Kia vision for the European market, design strategy and future plans were introduced. Kia also presented the all-new 1.1-liter diesel engine which will power Picanto on European market.
Highlight of the day was the revealing of the new models of ED range (five-door and station wagon), the cars that will be produced at the new plant nearby Zilina. The new car will be officially introduced next year in September at the Paris Motor Show. Mr. Bae and Mr. Han presented current progress review on the plant construction and future plans of Kia Motors Slovakia. At the end Mr. Jean-Charles Lievens, Vice-President of KME introduced the projects for a new European headquarters and Design Centre in Frankfurt.
Feedback on the event was very positive, all the journalists liked the design of the new ED model and they got a lot of useful information. The event showed that Kia does indeed have “The Power to Surprise” for the years ahead.
