Kia starts recruitment for the second shift


  • Recruitment of operators and supervisors for the second shift starts in June
  • Kia will create around 700 new jobs and wants to employ up to 2,000 people by December 2006

Kia Motors Slovakia (Kia) is starting recruitment of operators and supervisors for the second shift in June. Kia is looking for candidates for all production shops – Press, Body, Paint, Assembly and Engine shop. Positions are open also in the Quality department and Production Management department. Recruitment for the first shift finished in April and Kia has already hired over 1,200 employees. Kia will create additional 700 new jobs since June and will employ up to 2,000 people in total by December 2006.

“Kia is looking for candidates with qualification in engineering. Graduates from technical high-schools or vocational schools with or without graduation exam are welcomed to apply for a job at Kia,” said Jo zef Valach , General Manager of Human Resources W/G . “Experience in the automotive industry or engineering is an advantage, but Kia is accepting also fresh graduates, who will be trained afterwards,” added Jo z ef Valach.

Recruitment of white collar employees is still ongoing. Kia is looking mainly for best candidates to cover positions in administration especially for IT department as SAP consultant, Web programmer, SAP ABAP programmer. Parts development specialists can apply for opened positions in the Purchasing and procurement department. In production Kia is mainly looking for Body, Paint, Maintenance, Mechanical or Electrical specialists.

For all employees Kia prepares special training and education programs tailored to job specifications. Kia has already trained over 600 employees in its own facilities in Korea, so the Slovak employees could participate in the real production at Kia’s plants or pilot production at the R&D centre. In consequence, Kia is accepting also fresh graduates either from high schools or universities, or people without specific experience in the automotive industry. Kia offers specialized training in Slovakia or abroad, interesting work with state of the art technologies, attractive social program and Christmas bonus for all new employees.

Kia’s first facility in Europe represents an investment of around €1 billion and will start production of new Kia model in late-2006. Ultimate capacity of Zilina plant is 300,000 cars and engines annually. By 2009, Kia will employ up to 3,000 people and will run a three shifts operation. Kia’s plant jobs form just part of 10,000 jobs being created either directly or indirectly in the region as more than 10 parts and components manufacturers are building their own plants in Slovakia to supply demands of the Kia facility.
