Kia Motors Europe once again achieved record new car registrations in Europe* in 2014, with an overall growth in sales of 4.2 per cent, according to the latest data from ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association).
Kia recorded sales of 353,719 units in 2014, representing year-on-year growth of 4.2 per cent over 2013. As a result of this growth – in line with a recovering European car market – Kia’s European market share remained steady at 2.7 per cent. Significantly, 56 per cent of the cars it delivered to customers in Europe in 2014 were made in Europe, at the brand’s production facility in Žilina, Slovakia ( 198,991 units, consisting of the Kia Sportage, cee’d model family and Venga).
The brand’s largest market in Europe in 2014 was the United Kingdom, with over 77,500 sales. Germany (over 53,500) and Italy (over 31,000) completed Kia’s top three markets.
“Kia is maintaining a pattern of sustainable growth in Europe, achieving increases in sales volumes every year since 2008,” commented Michael Cole, COO, Kia Motors Europe. “Our record registration figures this year are a testament to the quality of our design-led product range, and 2015 will be no different, particularly with the arrival of new models such as the new Kia Sorento.”
Cole added: “2014 saw us introduce a new Customer Quality Division, which promises buyers a high level of service at every customer touchpoint. This renewed focus on qualitative growth will make Kia a brand that buyers enjoy dealing with more than any other."
Kia’s top-selling models in Europe in 2014 were the Kia Sportage (97,489 units) and the cee’d model family (75,960) – incorporating hatchback, wagon and three-door pro_cee’d. The Kia Picanto (51,102) and recently-upgraded Rio (58,702) also remained popular with European buyers. Every model in Kia’s European range continues to be sold with the brand’s unique 7-Year, 150,000 km warranty.
