Kia Motors Slovakia will suspend production at its plant in Teplička nad Váhom during the planned plant‑wide summer holiday, traditionally scheduled at the turn of July and August. The production lines currently manufacturing the Kia Sportage and the Ceed model range will be shut down for two weeks starting July 27. Production will resume on Monday, August 10, with the morning shift starting at 6:00 a.m.
During the regular shutdown, a number of activities related to the maintenance, inspection, and modification of production equipment and other technical facilities will be carried out—tasks that cannot be performed while production is ongoing. Despite the plant‑wide holiday, there will be considerable activity at the site thanks to the involvement of many colleagues from the maintenance department as well as several supplier companies.
“The gradually improving situation in automotive markets, together with increased demand for the Kia Sportage and Ceed models produced at our plant, is enabling us to return to a three‑shift operation. We plan to resume the night shift on September 2,” said Ján Žgravčák, Spokesperson for Kia Motors Slovakia.
Kia Motors Slovakia had been operating on a two‑shift basis since April 6, during the period of the strictest coronavirus measures across Europe, when demand for new vehicles dropped sharply.
