Kia Motors Slovakia produced a record amount of vehicles per month in September 2010. The number of manufactured cars reached 22,222 units which is 41% more compared to the same month in 2009. The Kia cee’d model composed 33% of total production during this month with 7,318 vehicles. During first nine months of the year 2010, Kia Motor Slovakia produced 163,225 vehicles in total which is 60,094 units more than in the same period of 2009 and over 13,000 units more than the whole year 2009 production. Since December 2006, Kia Motors Slovakia has produced all together 664,546 cars.
"I am very pleased that we achieved a monthly production record in the history of Kia Motors Slovakia, especially with such a high number of produced vehicles. New SUV models manufactured in our company have become very popular among our customers and we have noticed increased demands, which is the key factor how to reach this historical moment. Our goal is to keep the quality on the highest level," said In-Kyu Bae, President and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia.
The most requested model of Kia cars among customers was Sportage in the month of September. The most favorite colour is the Black Pearl. As for the engines, the most frequently assembled was a gasoline engine 2.0-litre with an automatic transmission. Most of the produced vehicles, represented by 29%, were exported to Russia. Almost 13% cars were exported to Germany and 12% to the U.K. Kia Motors Slovakia launched the volume production of the brand new turbo diesel engine 1.7 CRDi on October 1, 2010. The engine with the power 85 kW (115 hp) and the torque of 255 Nm/2000 rpm will be assembled to the SUV models. The 1.7-litre diesel engine will thus enrich the production line and Kia Motors Slovakia will produce gasoline (1.4 and 1.6 litre) and diesel (1.4, 1.6 and 1.7 litre) engines.
