Kia Motors Slovakia will suspend production at its Teplička nad Váhom plant during the planned plant‑wide holiday at the turn of the year. Production lines manufacturing the Kia Sportage and Ceed models will be shut down as of December 19. Production will resume on Monday, January 4, 2021, with the morning shift starting at 6:00 a.m.
During the regular shutdown, a number of activities related to the maintenance, inspection, and modification of production equipment and other technical facilities will be carried out—tasks that cannot be performed while production is in operation. Despite the plant‑wide holiday, there will be significant activity on site thanks to the involvement of many colleagues from the maintenance department as well as several supplier companies.
“Investments and modifications will be implemented across several production halls of Kia Motors Slovakia during the year‑end period. During the regular winter shutdown, we plan to increase automation in the paint shop and carry out adjustments to the welding shop lines. The main objective of these investments is to enhance our competitiveness, modernize the production process, reduce costs, and increase production efficiency,” added Ján Žgravčák, Spokesperson for Kia Motors Slovakia.
