Kia Motors Slovakia, one of the largest employers in the Žilina region, has supported the Government of the Slovak Republic in its efforts to resolve the crisis situation as quickly as possible by donating EUR 200,000, which will be used to purchase much‑needed lung ventilators for Slovak hospitals. A symbolic cheque in this amount was today presented by Kyong Jae Lee, President of Kia Motors Slovakia, to Richard Sulík, Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic and Minister of Economy.
Kia Motors Slovakia is approaching all activities with the utmost responsibility in order to help return Slovakia to normal life as soon as possible, without the restrictions caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus.
In addition, the Kia Motors Slovakia Foundation will purchase four compact mobile anesthesiology units with ventilators for the University Hospital in Martin, with a total value exceeding EUR 140,000. During this week, the foundation will also begin distributing 10,500 protective face masks to improve protection for 3,500 clients across 26 senior care facilities throughout the Žilina region.
As part of activities carried out in cooperation with the City of Žilina and the Slovak Red Cross, volunteers from among Kia Motors Slovakia employees have also joined the distribution of face masks within the “Masks for Žilina” project. The Kia Motors Slovakia Foundation is ready to support additional projects aimed at protecting health and combating the spread of COVID‑19 in Slovakia, particularly in the Žilina region.
