On May 3, 2006, Kia Motors Europe (KME) organized an event for influential European journalists who bring the news from the automotive industry to the whole world, in premises of Kia Motors Slovakia. More than 140 visitors to this event, including PR managers of Kia distributors in Europe and KME representatives, could thus see the production premises of our plant for the very first time. They also had the opportunity to get the latest information about the progress of the Kia Slovakia s. r. o. project in Slovakia.
The event was divided into two parts. The first part took place at the Zilina City Training Centre. During this part, the Kia Motors project in Slovakia was presented to journalists as well as the production strategy. The programme started with the welcome speech by the President of Kia Slovakia s. r. o., Mr. In-Kyu Bae, who revealed that Kia Motors would like to become a new challenger in the automotive industry in Europe and achieve the best satisfaction of our customers through the plant in Zilina. The official programme continued with watching a short video on the plant’s construction and the presentation by the Vice-President of the Administration Group & CFO, Mr. Chang-Kyun Han, who introduced Kia Slovakia s. r. o., its strategy and the project schedule. In conclusion, Mr. Jean-Charles Lievens, the Senior Vice-President of KME, presented the sales strategy of Kia in European markets.
In the afternoon, the programme continued with a plant tour. In all production shops, journalists could see production technologies and the production process was explained to them in detail by the Slovak staff. In addition, journalists could ask for further information related to the production. Reactions of journalists to the event were very positive. They evaluated the plant as one of the best in Europe.
